On run in to target at 1215hrs a ME109 starboard and quarter mile away was seen shot down by another Lancaster. Pilot bailed out. About 30 seconds later 8 ME109s painted black seen at 700 yards. They started to attack and one Lancaster seen to go down. Another was in difficulty smoking.
