Attacked by enemy fighter near the estuary of the Maas. Electrical equipment to bombing circuit rendered u/s. Only found out when over target and when bomb doors opened no lights appeared on bombing panel. At same time hit by heavy flak. Orbited and received further hits. Started bombing run and tried to open bomb doors again without success. Set course for home and hit again north of Aachen. Corkscrewing took us north of track and encountered a ME110 north of Antwerp. Navigator and Wop wounded, power plant wrecked. All wireless and intercomm u/s. Mid upper turret lost perspex and astrodome lost. Other considerable damage. Crash landed at Woodbridge. Only one wheel would lock down, and collapsed on landing. Special equipment removed and returned to base.
