Abandoned. Hit by heavy flak and/or cannon fire from fighter. Considerable damage caused, starboard inner engine caught fire. Both gunners were wounded. Aircraft went into a steep dive with flames coming from rear turret. Crew ordered to prepare to jump. Bomb Aimer and 2nd pilot left aircraft, rest unable to leave. Aircraft stabilised at 2000ft and landed at Wittering.
