Story

Served with 44 Sqn. Shot down from 22000' by a night-fighter (Unteroffizier Emil Nonnenmacher of the 8./NJG 2) from astern, just moments before bombs-away. All made good their escape but Campbell did not survive the jump. Crashed at Metzingen/ Württemberg at 0430hrs. One of the two local fire engines were deployed to the scene, the other having been deployed to Stuttgart to help with the aftermath of the bombing.
