Outward-bound and east of Vesoul in the Haute-Saône département (France), the aircraft was shot up in a 'Schräge Musik' attack by night fighter pilot Hauptmann Eckart-Wilhelm von Bonin of the Stab II./NJG 1, who was flying Bf 110 G-4 G9+BC from Saint-Dizier airfield in Haute-Marne, France. Later on, the aircraft started shaking uncontrollably and was safely vacated by the crew over the Lac de Neuchâtel lake in Switzerland.
